A US official has announced that Osama Bin Laden has been killed and the US is in possession of his body.
US President Barack Obama is to hold an emergency press conference in a few minutes where it is believed he will confirm Bin Laden’s death.
It is being reported that Osama Bin Laden was killed by a drone strike near Islamabad in Pakistan.
The president is to break into regular programming for the announcement.
Osama Bin Laden is top of the US most-wanted list and accused of masterminding several major terrorist operations including the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington.
